There is something about Christmas lights and decorations that just enlightens our day.  I was downtown yesterday night and naturally I had my camera and somehow lights give charm to our city.  The street we walked on is Mc Gill College and I believe that it is one of the nicest spots in Montreal where you can enjoy Christmas decorations. Although it was cold and minus 10 degrees Celsius, my wife and I got use to the cold pretty fast…it was not the same for our little dog!

Technical notes:

Most of these pictures were taken on a tripod, camera is a Canon 40d with Sigma lenses (24-70 and 18-200 OS).  No noise reduction was applied.  Note that in order to get a good depth of file, I’ve used small aperture like f/8 to f/16.   I used flash on second curtain in the “Icy tree” photo in order to get better light.

Enjoy

The day after the first snow storm
Well it is December 9th 2008, and we’ve just got our first snow storm. Until now we’ve received approx. 15 to 20 cm of snow. Our roads were full of traffic and get home was a nightmare.

In the night of Tuesday to Wednesday some freezing rain is expected…FUN!

Well is less than a month now Christmas will be here.  Here in Montreal, the weather is getting colder and the first snow fall happened a few days ago.  When snow will accumulate I will post a few photos.

Your comments are appreciated.  You can also post your favorite Christmas photos and the best places to shoot Christmas decorations.

2008 Gray Cup final will be held in Montreal, QC.  The game will be played at the Olympic Stadium.   The final game will oppose the Montreal Alouettes to the Calgary Stampeders.  Calgary is favorite but anything can happen when you play a home game.

On Saturday November 22nd, activities were held at “Place du Canada”. Many Calgary fans were seen there and what a great ambiance there was.  It was interesting to see that many other CFL fans were there cheering their team even though they were not in the finals.

To view more of these activities please go to my gallery by clicking this link:  CFL 2008 Festivities.  Feel free to post any comments or any other photos linking to the CFL 2008 festivities.  Enjoy the game starting at 18h00.

Here are a few photos showing fall in Montreal.  These photos were taken in St-Leonard in Parc Delorme near Jarry street. All photos are taken using canon 40D and Sigma lens 18-200mm.  We are presently in the month of November and trees are starting to loose their colors.  We now have only a few days left before the snow starts pounding the streets of Montreal.  Until then please enjoy these photos.  Note that Images were processed using photomatix and aperture.
